EU Settlement Scheme

The EU settlement scheme closes on 30th June 2021.  EU citizens must have applied by that date if they wish to remain in Scotland and receive or claim benefits.

To be eligible to make an application, EU citizens must have been living in Scotland prior to 31st December 2020, however, an application can still be made for EU citizens who were not living in Scotland prior to this date if they are making an application based on family ties.

The application can be made online if they have a valid passport or registration card at https://www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-citizens-families or https://www.mygov.scot/help-eu-citizens
If they don’t have a valid passport or registration card then they will need to complete a paper application form that can be downloaded at https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apply-to-the-eu-settlement-scheme-by-post-or-email.  It is at the discretion of the Home Office if they will accept an outdated passport or registration card.

There is still time to make an application and Robert from Citizens Advice Bureau (AFTAR project) welcomes referrals.  Please call 01698 251981 or the co-or the co-op 01698 263311
