About Us

Forgewood Housing Co-operative Limited was set up in 1994 and is a non-charitable Industrial & Provident Society and a  non-fully Mutual Co-operative. The Co-operative owns over 200 properties in Forgewood, Motherwell for general needs. It is registered with Communities Scotland Registration No.  HAC 271 and with the Financial Services Authority Registration No.  2439 R (S)

The Co-operative was formed after the successful transfer of 220 tenemental properties from Motherwell District Council (80 of which were demolished) and the remainder refurbished to the highest standard with funding from Communities Scotland (previously Scottish Homes). Since then the Co-operative has grown with new build properties for rent and shared ownership.

The Co-operative works in partnership with Garrion People’s Housing Co-operative in Wishaw, operating a joint staffing agreement.
